This is what it’s about… The reason I started my own company earlier this year was to do the kind of work, and do it in a way, that puts a smile on my face. My, and my clients’, happiness and satisfaction is my goal, not the growth curve or any potential exit or liquidity event. This guiding light lets me approach my business from a relationship perspective, instead of a transactional one, which very concretely shapes the conditions I work under. Now, with app. 6 months under my belt as a pure revenue-driven bootstrapper, I’m finding that this approach is driving business in a very organic way, in full alignment with my Happiness objective, and with increasing momentum.
Unlike so many, I don’t dream of world domination, of conquering at the expense of others. Instead, I celebrate being small, being able to execute my daily work routines with a complete sense of liberty, with excitement about every victory small or large, and I relish the cooperative relationships I’ve been able to foster with both clients and peers in my industry.
