4 Healthy Morning Habits for a Productive Work Day

With summer coming in quickly and events starting to pile your schedule more and more such as birthdays, holidays, graduations, and lets not forget vacations, it can be difficult to take out the proper time needed to get your sanity in check.

However, like any successful person knows, you need to take time out for YOU.

Why?

Well, for one, you are your greatest asset. When you’re not functioning properly, nothing else around you will.

One way you can ensure that you are properly taking out time for your sanity is developing healthy habits that work best for your lifestyle and your personal needs. Many of these habits come in the form of a routine.

While following the routines of others can surely give you a path to follow, it is important to customize a routine suitable for your own life and personal needs, for each person’s situation varies from day to day.

To get started, I have developed 4 Healthy Morning Habits that make for a productive work day:

1. Meditation

2. Exercise

3. Breakfast

4. Preparing the night Before

Meditation

I like to call meditation the “clearing of the mind”. Each morning I wake, I like to clear my mind from any negative thought patterns, worries, doubts or fears that may be in the way for me achieving success that day.

I start with about 10 minutes of silence, transitioning into 5 to 10 minutes of thanksgiving. I proceed to either read a scripture or listen to an inspirational audio — whether song or message from a speaker. I always end with a prayer and again giving thanks. This lasts between 20 to 30 minutes.

I walk away feeling fresh and anew with a clear perspective for the day.

You are free to choose and develop your own way of mental clarity that works best for you.

Exercise

Who said exercise is boring?

Getting your body moving first thing in the morning is a great way to see your body fully awake, energized and ready to go for the day ahead of you.

The workout/exercise plan you do does not have to be long or tiring. It can be just a 5 to 10 minute warm-up to get you up and ready for the day.

Some examples of this can include:

· Stretching

· Walking/running

· Jumping rope

· Lifting weights

· The list goes on

My morning exercises of choice is stretching and walking. Both in which, take about 10 to 15 minutes in the morning.

I find that doing these two exercises relaxes my body and helps my mind “calm” from thoughts of my to-do list immediately racing through my mind first thing in the morning. Also, I feel strengthen in my ability to tackle any obstacles in my day.

Breakfast

You don’t have to be a nutrition expert to know that we are what we eat. What we eat determines how we feel throughout the day, and determines whether or not we have enough energy to last us to the end of the day.

If you work long hours, it’s important to start your day with something that will fuel you until your next meal.

I like to start my day with a smoothie. Smoothies have been a lifesaver for me. Not only are smoothies good, but can aide in weight loss as well.

My favorite is the pure banana smoothie. It entails just 1 banana, 1 tablespoon of sugar, a few ice cubes, and some milk.

Since I’ve discovered smoothies, I’ve been in love every since.

Preparation the Night Before

Did you know if you prepare the night before that you’re able to have more time in the morning for emergency situations that come up?

I don’t know about you, but for me, mornings can be hectic and chaotic. Things happen that can be completely out of your control.

Preparing the night before for what you already know you should do will help aide in a smoother morning for you.

Get an idea of what you will put on the next day. Have your work or gym bag and all things that need to go in it, already ready waiting for when you walk out the door.

Getting up in the morning searching for last minutes items will surely stress you out and you will end up wasting a lot of time searching. Then, when it’s time to work, you feel tired, frustrated, and cranky.

I hope these four items helped you see how you could make your mornings better to get you to a more productive day.

If any of these items grabbed your attention, be sure to leave a comment telling me how. If you have enjoyed this post be sure to like by pressing the green heart.
