Two thoughts to add to your analysis:
- This felt like the New Yorker fashion issue. I don’t care about fashion writing, so most of a usually favorite mail item is quickly paged through. Same goes for pumpkin (or, for that matter, mango).
- I have a theory that a mid-level operations coordinator bangs out the flyer in two hours blocked out in their Lotus Notes calendar app.
