Diluc, the owner of the Dawn Winery’s birthday is rolling around the corner. In order to celebrate, I’ve decided to write a guide on this 5 star Standard Banner character. Diluc has been playable since the game was released, and is still a relatively strong character in the game. Diluc has been powercreeped by units like Hu Tao, but he is fun and easy to use and is really versatile. Here are some recommendations on how you should build your Diluc.

1. Talents

Diluc’s Elemental Skill, Searing Onslaught, can be used 3 times before it resets and you can weave in some Normal Attacks between them as well. They can be easily Vaporized and Melted since they are 3 seperate slices of Pyro damages. Diluc’s Elemental Burst, Dawn, spawns a big phoenix bird that deals lots of ticks of damage to enemies and brings small enemies with it, dealing damage over time to many enemies in a big area, but only for a short while. After using it, it also infuses your sword with Pyro allowing you to use Pyro Normal Attacks. Diluc’s passive talent, Blessing of the Phoenix, gives Diluc 20% Pyro DMG Bonus when he is in this state. His sword infused with Pyro allows Diluc to constantly deal Pyro damage and be an on-field carry. His other passive talent, Relentless, is essentially useless because Diluc almost never Charge Attacks in his optimal combinations. You can level up his talents evenly as they all play a big factor in his DPS output.

2. Weapons

Unlike some other characters, Diluc does not need the Wolf’s Gravestone (his supposed signature weapon) to work out. It is his best- it-slot but it is not needed. The best F2P weapon for Diluc is the Prototype Archaic, which can be crafted at the Crafting Table at the main cities. Some other good weapons for Diluc are the Rainslasher and the Lithic Blade if there are Liyue characters in your team. As for his best weapons, obviously the Wolf’s Gravestone, which increases his ATK by up to 60% with its passive. Another one of his best weapons is the Battle Pass Weapon Serpent Spine. The Serpent Spine is Diluc’s best 4 star Claymore and its passive is easy to charge up. The Unforged is also pretty good, but only if you run him with a shielder to actually get the whole potential of the weapon passive.

3. Artifacts

Diluc has only one really good artifact set, which is the Crimson Witch of Flames. The two-piece set gives him 15% Pyro DMG Bonus, while the four piece set increases Reaction DMG done by the character, and also increases Pyro DMG Bonus by 7.5% every time you use your Elemental Skill for 3 stacks, which really suits Diluc. Diluc can proc reactions and also has 3 charges on his Elemental Skill so he can use this artifact set to its full potential. Diluc wants Crit Rate and Crit DMG, and also ATK and Elemental Mastery for secondary stats. Diluc wants a ATK% sands with a Pyro DMG Goblet, and also a Crit circlet, being Crit Rate or Crit DMG depending on if your overall ratio is balanced.

4. Constellations

Diluc’s constellations are definitely a big upgrade to his kit but they are absolutely not necessary. C3 and C5 give the usual +3 talent upgrades to his Elemental Skill and Burst, his C1 increases his damage against opponents with above 50% HP by 15%, C2 increases his ATK by 10% and also ATK Speed by 5% when he receives damage and can stack up to 3 times, C4 increases his Elemental Skill damage when casted in succession by 40%, and his C6 increases the damage of his Normal Attacks when cast between his Elemental Skills.

5. Party Supports

For Diluc, Xingqiu will absolutely 100% be his best support. This may change in the future but Xingqiu is the only character who can offer consistent off-field Hydro damage. His Elemental bursts makes it so that the character which is on-field and Normal Attacking can summon Water swords that pierce the opponent. This fits Diluc super well and makes it so that he can Vaporize a lot of his attacks. The only problem is that Xinqiu is a very sought-after support in many different teams. Hu Tao wants him, the Raiden National Team wants him, and these are also two very very strong teams. So you will have to sacrifice one for the other mostly. As for melt, it is viable on Diluc but you won’t be able to hit it consistently so it is not as good as Vaporize. So, if there is Cryo Xingqiu one day he will definitely top the Xingqiu we have now.

Ending Thoughts

All in all, although powercrept, Diluc is still a fun and versatile character. He was one of the most wanted characters in the early patches and remains that for some newer players. Diluc is easy to build and doesn’t have a high skill cap, you honestly just click the buttons on your screen and you’re good to go.
