Yeah, I hear you. I thought about Soviet Union v Russia in the headline but ultimately landed on Russia.

I’m personally not interested in the tensions between Russia and the U.S. right now. I understand why others are, but I don’t see any good coming of it. I always prefer diplomacy over saber rattling and hostilities, and I think Russia and the U.S. are both worthy of criticism in how they deal with one another (and much of the rest of the world). One could argue one is worse than the other, but I think there’s a good bit of blame to go around.

But you don’t Russia was calling the shots for the Soviet Union? That’s what I meant by that last sentence in my previous response — that during the time of the U.S.S.R., Russia was very much in command of Soviet policy.
