If you’ve surfed the web at all lately you’ve most certainly run into a new set of popups asking you to check ‘OK’, inspired by Europe’s new privacy regulations.

The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on May 25th and “Major U.S.-media outlets including the LA Times and Chicago Tribune were forced to shutter their websites”.

We at DCC weren’t the first to notice the potential — CoinTelegraph also wrote a piece recently titled “GDPR and Blockchain: Is the New EU Data Protection Regulation a Threat or an Incentive?”.

“ Data subjects, on the other hand, will be better informed on how their private data is stored and processed (Article 15). They will, for instance, have the right to ask for a copy of the information companies held about them.”

We at DCC have been aiming for exactly the same target as the EU! INDIVIDUAL OWNERSHIP OF PERSONAL DATA!

Under the GDPR, companies will erase all personal data when asked to do so by the data subject. At that point, the company will cease further dissemination of the data, and halt all processing. Valid conditions for erasure include situations where the data is no longer relevant, or the original purpose has been satisfied, or merely a data subject’s subsequent withdrawal of consent.

GDPR is perfectly timed for DCC users aiming to control their own credit score. New DCC users can request their data from the financial institutions (via GDPR) and then demand said financial institutions delete all records!!

(after storing their information directly on our blockchain — thus gaining FULL CONTROL, and TOTAL PRIVACY!)

“ Blockchain shares many goals with the GDPR. Both aim at decentralizing data control, and tempering the power inequality between centralized service providers”.

From Tech Republic’s Cheat Sheet:

Penalties for failing to comply with the provisions of the GDPR can be severe and carry significant risk of liability for any company. The maximum assessable penalty for noncompliance with the GDPR is 4% of the annual global revenue generated by the company.

At DCC we won’t share your information with ANYONE, unless you specifically grant permission. And even then.. we’ll just share it with the single party, and won’t let them touch anything!
