How to become an IAF Officer:
The eligibility criteria for the IAF revolve around some of the skills which one must possess. About the course:
One can apply for any of the three branches available, namely, Flying branch, Technical branch and Ground duty branch. If any engineer happens to choose these branches he becomes eligible for the post of Commissioned Officer. But the basic and foremost requirement is to clear the AFCAT exam as per the required score. Candidate can also join Air force after cracking NDA exam. The flying branch includes Fighters, Transports and Helicopters. The Ground Duty branch includes administrative, logistics, accounts, education and meteorology department. The Technical branch includes the mechanical and electronics department.
Preferable Academia:
One of the renowned and noteworthy academies in India, National Defence Academy abbreviated as NDA, serves as the best institute for providing training to the concerned candidates. Many brave and award winning soldiers and officers have graduated from this institute. After cracking NDA exam, cadets go for their training in this institute. The training duration is of three years being conducted at three different stages which include physical training, service subjects and academics. Cadets, who have applied for the Air Force, go for one year long training program and are awarded the post of Permanent Commission Officer in the Flying branch, on its completion.
The Air Force Academy provides training to Cadets from all the branches (flying, technical and ground duty branch) and those who are part of Army and Navy. The curriculum involves various activities such as working on projects and case studies, guest lectures, book reviews, debates, yoga, swimming and so on. It helps the cadets to instil the required code of conduct and etiquettes.
