Will the Real Devin Please Stand Up?

Yes, I just quoted Eminem. Why? Because Eminem is one of my favorite rappers since he portrays realism, but also because most of his songs make me chuckle and happy. Plus when you grow up with my father you are forced quickly into the world of him. So judge me if you must for liking Eminem, but “we need a little controversy, ’Cause it feels so empty without me.” (You’re welcome)

Typically I don’t do these type of things because I just love to write and not have a introduction to who I am because I feel that my writing speaks for who I am just fine.

However, I have found that blogging is a whole different ball game. I am used to Wordpress because it makes me happy. You can get a little more creative on it to better represent your personality. However, Medium has me intrigued after reading some of my friend’s blogs on here and peer pressured to do so (no means no must not apply to them).

Anyways, what’s up? I’m Devin Clark (a female, not a male. Although, for three months my best friend’s parents thought I was her boyfriend so that led to an awkward first Christmas with them. Needless to say, I was definitely the center of attention that year and received a few interesting Christmas presents.) I am also a retired volleyball player for Manchester University. Spent three years as the starting blocker becoming top ten in Manchester’s history only to find myself on the sideline my senior year. (Fuck you too, Coach).

I am completely and utterly feelin’ 22 (Thanks Swifty for the constant song reference) and spend more time in the bar than what I probably should, but there are so many interesting characters found in the bar that inspire my writing.

(BTW be prepared for sporadic writing and thoughts occurring periodically and probably not making sense. It is just how my brain functions.)

I am a senior at Manchester University studying English Education (ugh I know sounds terrible? But I cannot express my love for teaching and English.) If I had to choose what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, it would be to write. I am an aspiring writer with hopes of (before the end of 2016) finally finishing my two books that have been in the works for 8 years (don’t judge me, writing takes time). Unfortunately, like my friend Dunder always says, “The difference between a park bench and a writer is that the park bench can support a family of four.”

Soooooo, I chose to combine two important things in my life so that I can make a living, but also have time to do what I love and write.

Without thinking, top favorite writers are without hesitation Jane Austen, Mark Twain, Sarah Dessen, Stephen King, Mary Shelley, and just recently Kurt Vonnegut (slightly). I could read them for days!

Anyways I think that is good for now! I don’t want to get all too involved here ;). So if you want to stay and hangout with me and read the random, stupid, and spastic blogs I may or may not post feel free. If not that’s okay, I won’t judge you too much. Just be prepared for things to not make sense because you will be submerged into the world of my brain.
