Shane Hamill is rounding out his 25th year in the music industry as DCR Nashville’s account manager. Having started as an audio tech back in 1992, Shane has had to wear many hats to end up where he is today. As he nears his first year at DCR, Shane talks about his past experiences, his role for clients as an account manager and how it all applies to the overall success of a full service production company.

What is your role at DCR Nashville?

Basically, I currently serve two roles; account manager and operations. As account manager, I manage a…

If you’re going to ask anyone for advice on how to get a foot in the entertainment industry, ask DCR Nashville’s General Manager John Schirmer. After more than 20 years on tour with artists like the Black Eyed Peas, Bonnie Raitt and Keb’ Mo’, John’s experience is a true testimony of life on the road.

While it’s been a few years since he’s hopped a tour bus across country, John can still sit behind his desk at DCR Nashville and recount each experience and challenge as though it were yesterday. …

Tracy Lawrence has arguably the most recognizable voice in country music.

Supporting a career of more than 27 years, that has yielded 18 number ones and over 14 million albums sold is no small order. With a brand new album coming out November 10th; GOOD OLE DAYS, and a robust touring schedule, slowing down is not an option for the Tracy Lawrence tour. Whether it be country music’s biggest festivals or the rowdiest honky-tonks around the country, both DCR Nashville and the Tracy Lawrence crew provide world class support for a world class artist.

This past summer has been a…

The Concert 4 the Cure, featuring Jeffrey Steele, took place on Saturday, September 9th at 5:00 PM on the Great Lawn at the Westhaven Residents Club, and once again DCR Nashville stepped in to support our neighbors and a great cause. Proceeds from both the Family Fun Run and the Concert 4 the Cure will fund discovery grants at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Discovery grants provide seed funding for cancer researchers to pursue bold ideas in the lab that can lead to breakthrough discoveries in the fight against cancer. …

We still have a few weeks left of the summer-long “The Devil Don’t Sleep Tour” with Brantley Gilbert, and we’re already having a hard time sorting through some of our favorite memories. When every experience is more unique than the next, it’s hard to say what is better. One thing we know for sure — it’s been a great ride!

One of the reasons why we choose touring as a lifestyle, and as a business model, is the excitement of it all. The experiences and memories it provides for our employees, artists and members of the audience.

It’s not something…

Howard Jones, the founder of DCR Nashville, attended his first concert at an early age and was blown away. That concert was Charlie Daniels and Linda Ronstadt at the Stokely Athletic Center in Knoxville. When the lights dimmed and the crowd went wild — looking around in amazement, he knew he wanted to somehow be a part of such a crazy experience.

“As much as I liked the music, and it was great music, I stood and just watched the people,” Howard said. “I literally knew what I wanted to do from that moment forward. I just remember thinking, ‘I’ve…

  1. They have great personalities: The key to success in any career choice is how you interact with those you work with and those who surround you. There is no difference for live engineers. A FOH engineer must be able to interact positively and except criticism, both constructive and negative from the artist, the artists managers, the artists wife or girlfriend and the audience members. FOH engineers sit in the crowd and quite often can be the link to the artist for the audience. A bad attitude can quickly sour the experience for an audience member and or facility. Monitor Engineers…

An empty warehouse is a successful warehouse — at least, that’s what we like to say at DCR Nashville. Summer is one of the busiest seasons of the year for us. Stop by today, and you’ll find a mostly open space with gear peppered here and there. Come back during the winter months and you can’t hardly move because everything is back from tour and the walls and floor are lined with gear.

“You go to anyone else’s warehouse and it might be 10 times the size of this, but for us, this works,” says DCR Nashville General Manager John…

At DCR Nashville, we want the audience to be moved by their concert experience and the only way to do that is through providing creative and exciting sound and visual experiences.

We’ve recently expanded an already impressive production inventory to include three DiGiCo mixing consoles: two SD10 desks and a new SD12. Also included are 3 SD-Racks — each fully loaded with 56 channels of DiGiCo’s brand new 32-bit “John Stadius” mic preamp modules — three DiGiGrid MGB interfaces and three Waves SoundGrid Extreme servers.
