An empty warehouse is a successful warehouse — at least, that’s what we like to say at DCR Nashville. Summer is one of the busiest seasons of the year for us. Stop by today, and you’ll find a mostly open space with gear peppered here and there. Come back during the winter months and you can’t hardly move because everything is back from tour and the walls and floor are lined with gear.

“You go to anyone else’s warehouse and it might be 10 times the size of this, but for us, this works,” says DCR Nashville General Manager John Schirmer as he walks around the mostly empty warehouse in the middle of August. “The theory is, if you’re doing what you’re supposed to, you don’t need a lot of space because none of your gear is here.”

Whether it’s on tour with Brantley Gilbert, providing production across the country for Dave Ramsey, supplying tours with consoles or even right here in Nashville, DCR Nashville has been doing exactly what it’s supposed to do by staying consistently busy. Here are just a couple highlights from some of our biggest in-town productions of the season:

DCR Nashville takes on CMA Festival

Come June, people from all over the world flock to Tennessee for two of the state’s biggest music festivals: Bonnaroo and CMA Music Fest. This year, we were fortunate enough to stay local by partnering with the production manager for CMA Festival, Greg Pitman. A long-standing relationship with Pitman and the Country Music Association put DCR in the trusted position of providing audio and lighting services for the Gildan sponsored stage located in the parking lot of the Hard Rock café.

Providing production for CMA Fest is no small feat. This year the Gildan stage ran for four consecutive days from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. with 10 up and coming national acts performing 25 minutes each daily. When the CMA program material ended DCR Nashville would reset the stage and then Hard Rock Café would run the stage from 5:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. with six acts performing every night for 50 minutes each. When all was said and done DCR Nashville provided top of the line production services for close to 60 bands over a four-day, three-night period.

Production from DCR Nashville for this year’s event included: (2) Avid Profiles for FOH and Monitors, (16) Meyer Mina self-powered speaker cabinets, (1) Meyer Calisto System processor, (8) mixes of Shure PSM 900’s, and (8) Meyer MJF212’s. Lighting included: (1) GrandMA on PC for FOH, (8) Mac Quantum Profiles, (12) Mac Auras and (8) Mac 301’s. The design incentive for DCR was to create a compact and memorable concert experience that fit the budget of our client.

DCR Nashville Supports Nashville Symphony in Breaking July 4th Records

By the time July rolled around, we were already gearing up for more fun — this time for Nashville’s Fourth of July celebration at the Ascend Amphitheater. DCR Nashville was the preferred audio provider for the Nashville Symphony Orchestra during the breathtaking firework performance, which can be seen and heard from all over town.

Teaming up with Chris Lisle (Chris Lisle Designs) David Spencer and the CVC, DCR Nashville set forth to provide a once in a lifetime experience for the members of the Nashville community and for tourists to our great city.

DCR Nashville’s involvement in this year’s festivities was to provide direct audio support for the Nashville Symphony Orchestra as they performed during the fireworks spectacular. Supporting the Symphony we deployed (32) Meyer Lyon Self-powered Speaker Cabinets with (6) Meyer 1100 LFC’s. (2) Avid Profiles, and (14) Hot Spots.
