“You’re Asian right?”

Kane Cazares

Given the choice with anyone in the world, who would you want as a dinner guest?

“ I might want [to have dinner with] a Holocaust survivor because like I want to talk to one before like their generation disappears. I never spoken to one. I thought… I could put that on my bucket list. Also the president. Like discuss policies and stuff.”

Would you like to be famous? In what way?

“I was thinking like umm in a way like uhh Leonardo Dicaprio. his like talking about climate change and like he’s trying to get that out. But umm I also wouldn’t want to be famous. I don’t do well in the spotlight. I don’t want to like mobbed by people.”

Do you have a secret hunch about how you are going to die?

“Uh no I’m pretty reckless like climber. I also like try to do parkour stunts at park. Maybe like a fall… I hope not. Or Maybe like an accident with like a harness or zip lining or something. I’ve never gone but it seems pretty scary.”

“Name three things you and your partner have in common?

Umm. Are you Asian? We wear glasses. I like math too.”

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

“For me it was like a little more difficult because my parents divorced before high school. And then like. This month was like especially bad for my dad because this month 2 of his brothers died. One was drugged because he lives in the south side of Chicago and the other got into a car accident last week but like if i was grateful it would be like because he is so busy now. Me and my sister we learned how to cook. We kinda like took over like what our mom used to do so like now i know how to cook and i do laundry. And i’m also finding the time to learn Japanese because my mom was too busy to teach me. I think that if my parents haven't divorced i would have tried to learn new stuff.”

From my conversation with Kane, I learned that he is a super polite guy that tries his best in everything. He cares about his family and is very adventurous. He is always in pursuit for knowledge and tries to learn things in his free time. He was involved in lots of things as a kid, but now chooses to take it slow. He still likes to live life to the fullest though. From my talk with him, I could tell that he is friendly, polite, and is a great friend.
