William and Mary Student Catches Zika Virus

It is rare for the Zika virus to cause deadly symptoms, however the disease is still an issue sweeping the globe. News came out Saturday, Jan.31 that a student at the College of William and Mary contracted the mosquito-borne virus while on a vacation to Central America. William and Mary’s health and wellness team continues to remain confident that the student is safe, due to the fact that the student is not experiencing any symptoms.

Woman Gives Birth At Alexandria Gas Station

Officer Michael Garcia pulled over who he thought to be a drunk driver at an Exxon Station in Alexandria, Virginia. To the officer’s surprise, inside the vehicle was 26-year-old Kenya Sierra in labor. Less than just one minute after being pulled over, Sierra gave birth to baby Joshua and Officer Garcia calls the birth a a highlight of his career as a police officer so far.

St. Bernard Reunited With Family After Being Rescued From Icy Lake

The Wortman family, from Fairfax Virginia, almost lost a furry, beloved member of their family during the historic Blizzard of 2016. During the blizzard, the family’s St. Bernard, by the name of Milo, ran out onto a frozen lake and fell through the ice. Thanks to heroic firefighter, David Busch who jumped into the lake to rescue Milo, today the pup remains in good health, reunited with the people he loves.
