The Business of Screenwriting: Script readers, Hollywood’s threshold guardians
Scott Myers

Funny story that goes with “Beth’s story.” I recently entered a contest and got feedback from the script reader about 12 hours after entering which is highly unusual. The time stamp on the email was from the middle of the night. I open the coverage and see I scored a 3.1/10. Horrible. I read the coverage and nothing makes sense with the coverage….then I look at the top of the coverage. One Hour Drama. The category I entered: Half Hour Comedy. I emailed the contest and they were appalled at what happened and switched to a new reader (scoring a 7.9 thankfully), but I would suggest always reading what they write at the top of the coverage for category and genre!
