SoundCloud makes most of its profits by placing advertisements in between content while users are listening. Another way SoundCloud can profit is if the user chooses to update from the standard SoundCloud to SoundCloud Go or SoundCloud Go+. The standard SoundCloud (which is free) allows users to discover, stream and share a constantly expanding mix of music from established and emerging artists, and listen to over 120 million tracks (with advertisements). SoundCloud Go is $4.99 per month and allows users to discover, stream and share a constantly expanding mix of music from established and emerging artists, listen to over 120 million tracks, listen to tracks while offline, and lastly listen to content ad free. SoundCloud Go+ is $9.99 per month and predominantly the same as SoundCloud Go except in addition to no ads and being able to stream while offline, users are able to listen to an additional 30 million tracks (added to 120M) including premium SoundCloud Go+ tracks, and there are no previews meaning users are able to listen to every track completely, no snippets.

Artists/Users on SoundCloud are able to make profits by joining SoundCloud Premier which simply monetizes their content and gains revenue based on the amount of plays the content receives. One can partner with Premier as a record label, distributor, independent artist, DJ, or a producer. There is no discrimination on SoundCloud; you can be any race, gender or sexual orientation and will still get compensated the same amount as anyone else partnered with Premier. There is complete equality.
