This means a lot to me as a 3-time survivor of suicide. My biggest problem with the suicide hotline in the USA is that when I did connect to a person, there was such a vast variety of conversations I’d have. One time someone told me they didn’t think the risk was that serious (I’d make an attempt later that night, luckily survived). Another asked me if I was ok, I said yes (while crying), and they hung up. From my experience even when you do connect to someone, they don’t take you seriously. That’s why text-based suicide hotlines worked really well for me later on — people had time to really think out their answers to me and it made a big difference.
