Generally, those who use identity politics as a deriding term want the left to focus on class instead of issues that pertain to the identities of marginalized people.
Stop Calling It Identity Politics — Its Civil Rights
Marcus H. Johnson

In case you forgot, man, one’s social class, especially one’s low/lower social class, is extremely and inherently marginalizing — and often times more so than any other factor. Class is transcendent because poverty is transcendent — the effects of classism can be seen across every race, religion, and gender-identity. Regardless of one’s identifying characteristics, those in the lower strata will always hold the least amount of power in any society.

I genuinely urge you to spend more time researching the subject and also really listening to the very real experiences of those occupying the lowest social strata.
