The 5 Darkest Disney Lines (You Probably Missed)

When we watch a movie, we generally know what to expect — scared if it’s a horror movie, real laughter if it’s a comedy, and pure joy if Keanu Reeves is in it.

Speaking of which, here’s some light before we dive headfirst into darkness.

The expectations change when we’re talking about Disney movies.

Disney started their existence in lighthearted cartoons, but they have worked their way into telling stories with themes more mature than “animal gets hit with frying pan.”

It’s impressive when a studio that makes distinctions between dogs that can talk (Goofy) and dogs that can’t talk (Pluto) can also handle real-life/grown-up topics. Bambi’s mom is gunned down, Carl and Ellie lose their baby in like the first 10 minutes of Up — the Mouse knows how to get real.

However, when we watch Disney movies, the idea of seeing things a little bleak is a given. We know things aren’t going to be all gooey-fish and lollipops, but it won’t be overwhelming. We are mentally prepared for the possibility.

BUT HOW WRONG WE ARE.

In addition to crazy-emotional sequences, Disney will throw in a dark line out of nowhere. A couple of words and you’ll miss it before the next character speaks and things move along. The lines don’t seem to…
