President Signs Heller Veteran Choice Bill

Heller bill ensures that veterans have access to services and treatments that the VA cannot provide

President Trump thanks Senator Dean Heller and others for leadership in making VA Choice a reality for veterans.

President Trump signed Dean Heller’s legislation that provides funding to continue the Veterans Choice Program. Dean’s bill ensures that veterans have access to certain services, including surgeries and life-saving treatments that the VA cannot provide.

Overall, this was a critical measure to improve the quality of care veterans receive in Nevada and around the country. Especially for rural veterans. Without funding, many rural veterans like those in Ely, Elko, Winnemucca, and Tonopah, would have to drive hundreds of miles to receive health care.

The VA Choice and Quality Employment Act also strengthens the VA’s ability to recruit, train, and bolster their workforce and provide better care for our veterans.

“I applaud the president for signing my bill, and thank him for the kind words and strong support of my bill to ensure our veterans have the resources they deserve. These warriors have fought and served their country selflessly, and they should not be forced to jump through hoops when it comes to accessing the care and benefits they’ve earned.
My bill makes certain that America’s, and especially Nevada’s, veterans to receive medical services that the VA cannot provide and for veterans in rural areas to seek care closer to home.”
