Amazing… And yet, it is no surprise that you guys have had to struggle for this and be very successful; despite or in spite of the rejections.

Most VC/investor has respect for success stories, very few have it for those in the trenches.

Yet we still wonder why VCs fail a lot; we still wonder why most startups (even when supported by VCs) fail a lot.

What I do not like really, is when AirBnB’s success is now constantly used as anecdote and reference point by VC/accelerators/angels etc on how to do it; when in fact, I challenge them, on hindsight, they wouldn’t invest in an AirBnB or a Facebook or a Google given precedence and other oddities that strike at their sensibilities.

I still remember the logo redesign sparked much competing opinions.

AirBnB is a success because of several factors: timing, grit, temerity, intelligence, design, resourcefulness, an idea whose time has come…

Stop using AirBnB as a model for lean or agile or design-centricity and what-not because you cannot model human spirit behind the story and success…
