Are you currently working as a case manager?

Are you making $75,000 or more a year?

The CCM recently released a new survey which reveals some fascinating facts about the growth of Certified Case Managers. As the healthcare world continues to become harder to navigate, the need for qualified case managers is growing rapidly.

As the survey points out, since the Affordable Care Act has become law, the number of case managers holding the CCM credential has risen from around 20,000 to more than 42,000. This is good news for the patients who rely on well-educated, dependable care coordinators to help guide them, and the hard working case managers themselves. Becoming a certified case manager is a win, win for all involved.

Here are just a few reasons to take that next step and become certified.

Increased Earning Potential

According to the latest CCM survey, released at the end of March 2017, the median average salary for Certified Case Managers is between $75,000 — $80,000 a year, well above the average RN or Social Worker salary. Even more interesting is that almost half (45%) earn over $80,000 a year!

Not only will you have more earning potential, but you will also be eligible for more employment opportunities.

More Employment Opportunities

Many employers are requiring certification.

As the CCM website shows, the numbers are increasing. In a ten year span from 2004 to 2014, the number of employers wanting certified case managers grew from 25.9% to 40.2%. Also, if you are considering working from home at some point, most of these positions require their case managers to have CCM certification.

Not only that, but according to the survey, “The professional growth trajectory for board certified case managers mirrors the value they bring patients, providers and payers”, which is a great indication that certified case managers are living up to their potential.

Personal Fulfillment

Let’s consider another reason to become certified.

You already know you enjoy being a case manager. You’re probably reading this because you are ready to take the leap to become certified. As with many other professions, there is something endearing about knowing you’ve completed the steps and can say you’re a certified case manager. Once you have studied for and passed the exam, having that certification will be an accomplishment you can be proud of for years to come.
