If you live in Tangerang, drive a lot, and happen to be an avid fan of this magic bean called coffee, chances are you are a very grumpy person.

I mean, who will drive through the gridlock from Tangerang to Jakarta, back and forth, back and forth, just to get his/her favorite cup of joe if this person is not a coffee snob? There, I said it.

Now here’s the good news for you, Tangerang people (Serpong, Karawaci, Alam Sutera folks, yes I’m talking to you), you can cut back on your time and fuel to grab your caffeine fix as per today. Be grumpy no more, for the absence of specialty coffee shop has now been filled with the opening of Turning Point Coffee.

The Bar

For a price, ranging from IDR 25k to 47k, skilful hands will work their magic behind the silver La Marzocco to craft your coffee of choice. Using only quality beans, selection will be updated almost every week. Common Grounds, Morph Coffee, and Tanamera are some of local micro-roasteries, of which their beans can be spotted here.

Sunlit

Talking about the place, I must admit they have a lovely outdoor section. Credit goes to its high ceiling and semi-open rooftop.

What else you need to know about this establishment is that they are pet-friendly.

Yes, it means what it is. You are granted to take your dose of caffeine while having your pet next to you. How cool is that!

2 cups of coffee, Flat White and Mocha (both using house blend), and 1 slice of Banana Nutella Mille Crêpe from La Reia were my order that day.

Flat White was good, not too strong and not acidic. Mocha was even better, I remember one of the blend characteristics was being dark chocolate-y, which complemented the chocolate in a cup of Mocha, resulting in smooth and wholesome body of joe. As for the cake, what can go wrong with banana and Nutella?

The Deal

So, Tangerang, ready to meet your turning point?

Turning Point Coffee is located at Ruko Golden 8 Extension K/10, Jl. Ki Hajar Dewantara, Gading Serpong. Open from Monday to Saturday, 10 AM — 5 PM. Closed on Sunday.
