This happens to me all the time. I can pick something up, put it down two feet away, and within minutes it disappears forever from the face of the earth. That happened a few months ago with a lint shaver. There are only two places (when not using it) it would be. In my sock drawer, or on a shelf inside my walk-in closet. I literally disassembled both the closet and drawer looking for it and finally gave up and bought a new one. About a week later, rummaging through my cosmetic drawer was the shaver hidden in the back of the drawer. Only a ghost would have placed it there.
