A Sexual Invitation

Haiku Poem

Purple vulval lips

Stamen thrusting center stage

Kiss life’s pulse and breed

Plants need to be fertilized before seeds can germinate. Insect-pollinated plants need to attract insects and bees to their center to spread the pollen contained within. They often use color, and scent to entice the insects inside.

This macro photograph enlarges the stamen and filaments inside a flower’s heart so we can see in minute detail the beauty of its structure.

The most likely colors to attract bees are purple, violet and blue.
