I am an FDR Democrat and a super-liberal Bernie or Bust voter. I would have thought that you and I couldn’t be more different, but here I am, reading my thoughts coming from a Republican Senator whose agenda may well be to sink Hillary Clinton because she is a nominal Democrat. But, hey, I too think she’s a nominal Democrat. IMHO, the only real Democrat in this race is Bernie — who, BTW, is also the only candidate with genuine integrity. To listen to my party’s leadership tell it, that ship has sailed, and I must vote for “the lesser evil.” The trouble is, I can’t figure out who that is: the guy who will start WWIII by accident; or the woman who will do it on purpose because it’s good for the economy.

So thank you, Sen. Sasse. You sound like an intelligent and reasonable Conservative with whom I could have a respectful disagreement based on principles and an understanding of history— a vanishing breed in today’s America.
