This makes me think about the Armenian genocide that was committed by the Turkish government in 1915; to this day, the Turkish government stands firm on denying the genocide; I don’t feel that modern Turks should feel guilty, necessarily, about what their ancestors have done but I feel that they have to learn about this part of their country’s history (The Turkish curriculum currently neglects this part of Turkey’s history altogether [and exoduses of other groups that flourished in Turkey in the 19th and 20th centuries); they have to at least acknowledge the violence that happened on their soil. You’re right about it not being right to feel guilty about what your predecessors have done; the thing is to be aware of historical events. Yes.
