An Unexpected Guest in Cypress, California: Photographing the Mysterious Appearance of the Snowy Owl
In the unlikeliest of places, Cypress, California, a remarkable visitor leaves the entire community in awe — a snowy owl of all things.
And luck would have it, I was there.
Everyone heard about the Snowy Owl visiting this neighborhood, and I happened to be visiting my best friends only 15 minutes from the location.
Trying to park the car once I found the street was the challenge. Photographers from everywhere armed with all their equipment, cameras, tripods, and not to mention, news reporters. What a spectacle.
It wasn’t difficult to find; just had to look for the group of people standing in the street waiting for the star of the show to do something.
It was December 31st, 2022, the day I got my one and only shots of a Snowy Owl. Another bird to add to my list, and I walked away very happy that I got to see such a fine creature. It wasn’t easy photographing him, and he seemed to like standing next to pipes coming from the rooftops of the houses he liked to sit on.
