The Future of Agriculture is Blockchain

Consumer demand for organic food is rapidly rising, but producers and manufacturers are often struggling to verify the accuracy of data from farm to table. As demand for organic and other specialty production methods grows, there’s a huge incentive for growers who can produce documentation of the supply chain that went into those foods. Yet, most of these companies are only focusing on trendy niche market and incapable of taking advantage of larger economic markets.

PAPLE’s vision is to bring modern agricultural technology to farms worldwide so they can all build profitable and sustainable businesses. PAPLE plans to achieve this by implementing Blockchain technology to allow all growers to meet regulatory compliance and consumer expectations. Described as an open ledger for transactions, Blockchain provides a secure way to track and transfer assets through supply chains. It has the potential to transform supply networks for food products.

The biggest revolution however is likely at the consumer level. Consumers are becoming increasingly concerned when buying food products, seeking information on environmental, ethical, and health attributes. Blockchain is a platform that provides all these informational needs. Blockchain has the ability to empower consumers to make more informed decisions about the products they buy.

Blockchain technology will make it easier to track, manage, and transact in all kinds of agricultural assets, from crops, to inventory, to precision data. Blockchain can create secure databases and open a wealth of potential new options for collecting data and automating farm management. PAPLE plans to accelerate the industry’s movement toward greater transparency and traceability from field to fork. This will bring opportunity for growers and a tool for the rest of the supply chain to combat food fraud and offer verified products to consumers.
