In addition to enhancing your physical health, going for a walk is good for you mentally and spiritually, too. Here’s 9 reasons why.

With everything that has been happening in the world many of my clients are reporting a general unhappiness with their life. Not only do they feel disconnected from friends and family thanks to all the months sheltering in place. They feel disconnected with their own souls. I’ll admit I’ve been feeling some general malaise, too. …

In order to keep “doing the work” sometimes you have to take a break so it all sinks in.

When it comes to making changes in your life, it’s important to not just get started, but maintain enough focus that you maintain momentum. This is true to any kind of self-development and growth work from learning about racism to owning your story to diving into your secret desires. Making progress demands you keep moving. Right? Yet one of the things that no one seems to talk about when it comes to personal growth work integration.

We all hit roadblocks when…

The year I stopped making resolutions was also the year I stopped giving things up for Lent. That year, I spent regular time at a Buddhist Monastery in order to learn to meditate. As a life coach, though I know we can’t separate our bodies from our mind nor our souls. Today, though, because I want to talk a little about soul care and listening to our soul’s needs, a little spirituality is making it’s way into the mix.

One of the tools that works for me personally is to choose a holiday or calendar event (Advent, Winter Solstice, etc.)…

Right before the holidays, I met a girlfriend for an impromptu happy hour. She’d texted me at 4 PM asking if I could meet her at 4:30 at a nearby restaurant with a great menu of Bar Bites. I agreed. Because no matter how much I like having a plan, I know that sometimes, loving yourself means being spontaneous.

She blew in like a storm: wild-eyed, windblown, and frazzled. Before we’d even ordered appetizers, she told me how crazy things were at work. And by the time our drinks had arrived, she had confessed what a hot mess her marriage…

If there is a feeling I know intimately, it’s fear. As a child, I was afraid of the dark and slept with my closet light on. I closed the closet door, of course, because the open space and shadows coming from the closet were scary, too. A tiny sliver of light, however, was enough to keep my fear of the dark and the monsters in my closet at bay so I could fall asleep.

It would be great to be able to tell you that now I’m a grownup, I’ve outgrown all my fears, because, logically, darkness and open closet…

I got a chuckle over an email from Coach Handbags on January 17th with the title “Happy Ditch Your Resolution Day”, a tongue in cheek acknowledgement that by mid-January, most folks are ready to abandon those New Year’s Resolutions. There was, of course, suggestions on things to purchase to celebrate the decision, inducing giggles from me. But the thing, they are right.

Most folks are ready to ditch the resolutions because they don’t feel they will find success, so why bother?

I get it. We have grand ideas for what we want, but after the holidays are over and we return to “real” life in all its beauty and stress, those goals seem un-doable. Or, we’re so busy dealing…

When I first made the decision to have a blog associated with my coaching practice, I made a commitment to myself and anyone visiting that I would have a fresh post each week. Some weeks, this commitment feels easy. My muse softly whispers in my ear and the words flow without struggle. I believed that because I was passionate about the work I was doing, I’d never lack for motivation.

I wish that I could tell you that’s I sit down to the computer every day knowing just what to write here. That my desire to help folks live a…

The arrival of a new year never fails to fill me with an excited anticipation. While I’m a big believer that every day, or truly every moment, is an opportunity to start fresh, there’s something mystical about going through the threshold as one year becomes the next. We have the opportunity to choose to see it as magical, at least. Some years we savor, some years we sweat, some years are a mixture of both, but all offer the opportunity to be a different person come the next year’s end.

To say that the past year has been incredibly challenging…

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that happiness is often a choice. Yes, I know that life can be and feel challenging. And I am also quite aware that making the decision to be happy can feel not just lackluster, but practically impossible.

Yet, I know that there is mighty power in making a decision. There’s this magical alchemical process that happens when we make a decision. As if we’re putting the power of God and the universe behind us to ensure we succeed.

I am, however, a bit of a realist. And I know that making the decision…
