Welcome to The Decred Drive. Every week this brief newsletter highlights top-notch Decred content from the previous week.

Decred community is as strong as ever, building steadily for the future of sound money. Let’s review recent developments in Decred Land:

  1. The July issue of Decred Journal was published! There’s much to cover.. Schnorr signatures, progress on dcrln, dRFPs (on Politeia), and vspd getting ready for mainnet voting. Check it out! IMO, treasury payouts with Schnorr signatures is massively exciting. Dave Collins says, I suggested that we use Schnorr signatures for the Treasury payouts in order to pick up some of the benefits they provide such as smaller signatures and formally provable security. I recently cleaned up the Schnorr code to bring it up to the project’s high standards for consensus code and while there are some changes that we want to make to it in the future before switching to it for widespread usage with multi-party signatures among multiple untrusted sources, it is ready for prime time in the context of the Treasury payouts. Decred is so quality.
  2. Privacy is coming to Decrediton. Keep an eye out for more updates. Thanks to Victor Oliveira for the update. Very exciting stuff.

3. Transak is great. You can now buy Decred in 32 countries using Transak. And developers can integrate the Transak widget.

4. If you haven’t already — check out the Decred Majority Attack Calculator on the DCR block explorer website: https://explorer.dcrdata.org/attack-cost. It’s top notch, and speaks to Decred’s hyper-security.

5. Decred developer Marco Peereboom gave us a nice update on Decentralized Treasury progress. Looks like we’re out of bugs folks. Awesome news! Marco has been grinding away at decentralizing the treasury and is making great progress.

6. DCRDEX is coming in hot! Atomic swaps — peer to peer transactions globally. Wild how far we’ve come… Keep an eye out for it! This is a game changer.

7. Our Network from Spencer Noon came out and covers the Decred network. Highly recommend subscribing to this publication as analysis by Checkmate is submitted routinely. It’s definitely worth following.

8. Politeia Digest for July 20 — August 8 is out on BlockCommons. Some creative and cool proposals recently — one recommending we do a poker tournament in order to gain awareness and traction with broader cryptocurrency community. Poker tournaments do gain a lot of traction, and lots of people love to play. The Decred Poker Series is interesting!

That’s all for this week folks.
