This Year’s NaNoWriMo Should Be Fun (Per Usual)
Oh, man…
The first full week of October has come and gone, and it’s been a couple of months since I won July’s Camp NaNoWriMo.
But that’s only because I forced myself to write a story that struggled to get out.
However, instead of pushing msyelf to write something new, I’m going to take the chance and revisit the past. Revising a prior NaNoWroMo novel, that is.
I’ve won twice — 2011 & 2012 — and both novels have been untouched since then. But one of my novels has been calling my attention since I reached the 50k+ word count goal in 2012, though there have been a few changes. Those changes have been written down in seperate notebooks and scratch pads, while the first draft collects digital dust in a memory stick (or my external hard drive, can’t remember which).
This will be tough, for I tend to avoid or run from hard work. But this story speaks to me daily, to where I daydream compulsively about the plot and new characters, the setting, origin story, fashions, etc.
The journey to revisit the past will be tough, since I normally don’t like to look at old work, but I believe this will be well worth it. It’s a story I believe will flourish on paper and/or screen as it did in my mind while imagining it.
November, bring it on.
