A Devotion — Colossians 1
He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything.
Colossians 1:17-18 NLT
Jesus is the author of every living thing, in both the world we see and the world we have yet to see. His finger prints blanket you as much as me, like smudges from a child's chocolaty fingers, evidence of the joy He had in creating us.
When our world seems to seismically be ripping apart at the fault lines of happiness, Jesus is holding us together in His embrace. Our faces are hidden in His chest, while He watches over the carnage of a world dictated by sin.
He will let what you thought made you happy fall apart, to make room for what will make you whole.
Jesus leads the remnant of dysfunctional misfits, the church, into a life of purposeful pain. He leads us. He doesn't just point the way. He uses pain as a surgical tool to excise the cancerous dependency of created things, and allows the healthy growth of Christ-dependency.
Everything is orchestrated by the One who keeps you together. He knows where you are, even when you don't know where He may be.
He loves you. He leads you. He listens.
