Deekshith Deva — Photography Basics: Tips For Taking Great Pics
The hobby of photography has recently experienced a resurgence. Even though lots of people have a casual interest in the subject, many of them find the huge body of photographic knowledge out there so intimidating that they never really explore the possibilities. This is a great article shared by Deekshith Deva to assist you when starting photography.
Play with the shutter speed setting to get shots of both slow and fast-moving subjects. Slow shutter speeds are great for objects that move very slowly, such as streams. Fast shutter speeds, on the other hand, allow you to get a clear shot of a subject that is moving very quickly, such as a race car.
Decide what aspects of your subject you want to capture in your photograph. An excellent photo will function like a little window, showing a moment in time for your subject. Don’t try and show too much within each picture. Sometimes it’s better altogether if you take multiple photos of a subject instead of struggling to get that one elusive shot of perfection. This works especially well when you’re trying to capture the essence of something.
A good photography tip is to focus on subjects that interest you. If you find yourself taking pictures of things that don’t interest you, it shouldn’t come as a surprise when you see that people aren’t interested in your photographs. Picking a subject that you’re passionate about is very important.
Try new techniques, and be brave enough to take thoroughly original photos. Good photography takes a unique style, and you want to show the world a new view through your lens. Avoid the same pictures that have been done over a thousand times. Try to find interesting angles, and be creative!
When you are taking landscape photos, consider the sky. If the sky is rather bland, do not let it dominate the photo. If the sky is lit up with wonderful colors (especially during sunrise, sunset, or a storm) it is okay to let the sky dominate the photo.
First and foremost photography should be enjoyable. Your photos should be a capsule of a particular time and place in your life. You should be able to look at these photos and instantly remember where you were and what you were thinking when you shot them. Have fun when actually taking the pictures and will soon fall in love with photography.
Photography is a hobby many people would like to take up. Unfortunately, many people avoid pursuing their interest in photography because they feel intimidated.
