It’s especially difficult when your mother was your first gaslighter and then you tend to be drawn to someone who does the same thing. I’ve lived with this for years and only now am beginning to understand what has been happening. I find myself in a situation I cannot extract myself from due to finances (or lack thereof). But at least I know what’s happening and can distance and preserve myself in ways I couldn’t before. Thank you for posting this.
