Valentine’s Day — arguably the most starry-eyed day of the year– is around the corner. A day that buzzes with queries from loved one’s, looking to find that perfect gift to show their better half how much they care. No matter how you like to spend your Valentine’s Day — with romantic gestures or like any other day, the Google Assistant is here to help you celebrate and have some fun.

Planning a romantic home-cooked meal or a simple cozy evening weekend getaway with the love of your life? Wanting to send flowers to your sweetie, but don’t know where to begin? Google Assistant can help you plan every activity on the day and make it special. Just ask and you’ll get answers — from the party venue, music, to the menu, the Google Assistant has got you covered. After all, isn’t that what assistants are for? Sweep your sweetheart off their feet this Valentine’s Day with these romantic tips. For example, a query like “Mexican Restaurants near me” or “play romantic 90’s songs” will help you plan a great meal and set the mood!

Get recipe ideas

Cooking a delicious meal for two at home this Valentine’s Day? Make sure your nerves don’t cause you to accidentally add way too little salt or far too much oil. Google Assistant, powered by Bon Appetit, The New York Times, The Food Network, and more, lets you choose from 5 million recipe ideas to ensure your date will leave impressed after the meal. This way, you have hands-free access to your favorite recipes, making sure you don’t miss an important step along the way.

Dim the smart lights

Got a set of smart bulbs, like Philips Hue? Set the romantic mood by dimming lights and lighting some candles. With Philips Hue or a smart light dimmer, such as the Lutron Caseta, or Belkin Wemo, you can ask Google Assistant to dim the lights automatically with a tap on your smartphone or a simple voice command. That way, you can you continue to lock eyes with your loved one forever and not ruin the mood by getting up for lights.

Put on some music or entertainment

Nothing sets the mood like some jazz, romantic classical music. But shuffling endlessly for the perfect playlist on your phone or playing music from your staticky old boom box are sure-fire ways to kill a romantic mood. With Google Home speaker, you can simply ask Google Assistant to play the kind of music you want to hear, and it will help you out by playing music from Google Play Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, YouTube Music, or TuneIn.

Treasure this V-day for a lifetime: As every celebration is incomplete without pictures, treasure those timeless moments and see your favorite V-Day moments on your TV with a simple command “Hey Google show my photos on TV.

Send flowers or gifts

Is your sweetheart currently on the other side of the country? Distance does make the heart grow fonder, but a beautiful bouquet of flowers or a sweet box of chocolates can’t hurt either. On Google Assistant-enabled devices for both Android and iPhones use Assistant to order flowers from 1–800 FLOWERS, and other gifts from Google Express. Use Google Assistant to shop selections from the brand’s “Fresh from the Farm™” collection on Google Express (“Buy roses”.) Or Use eBay integration with Google Assistant to narrow down your search, getting small amounts of information from you about your partner before suggesting gifts she might like. The kinds of questions you will be asked about your spouse might include her date-night preferences, hobbies, ideal getaways and more — all of which help build a profile for the gift suggestions.

Steps to ordering Valentine’s day flowers from 1–800 FLOWERS using Google Assistant

1. Add a payment method to your Google Account
If you’ve already made a purchase through the Play Store or another Google service, this should already be set up for you.

2. Order flowers through Assistant
Launch the Google Assistant on your phone. And then, type in or say “Hey Google, talk to 1–800-Flowers” Assistant will then hand the conversation off to 1–800 Flowers.

From there, select which flowers you will want to send, the address they will be sent to, the date the item should be dropped off, and the recipient’s name and phone number. After, you can type in an optional 200 character message that will be shared along with the flowers. If you order soon and choose a delivery date between February 10 and 14, 2018, you can get 20% off with the promo code VDAY.

Spend it with Google Assistant

Don’t have a date this Valentine’s Day? Nothing wrong with a cozy night in. But if you do get a bit lonesome, you can always ask these Valentine’s-related questions for a chuckle.

– Hey Google, will you be my Valentine?

– Hey Google, who is your Valentine?

– Hey Google, who do you love?

– Hey Google, tell me a love story

– Hey Google, I’m single

Did you know your Google Assistant is actually a trained singer? If you want to be serenaded on Valentine’s Day, say, “OK Google, serenade me.” Your Google Assistant will proceed to sing you a poem. Hey, at least your virtual assistant is always there for you when you need it most.
