The Loneliness of Entrepreneurship
Pursuing entrepreneurship is generally a lonely experience
The vision:
‘Deepak it must be so cool travelling the world; being in Amsterdam, having the time to explore and see the city, meet new people and build a business whilst you’re out there’
(Said of my 3-month sojourn in Amsterdam in the summer of 2015)
The reality:
I’m living in a family home where I don’t really speak much to the family. I have met cool people but most are in regular jobs and I don’t really know anyone in the city and many of my days are spent in a cafe alone working. And I do spend some time visiting and seeing things…but as they say about any place in the world:
‘Paradise is pointless if you have no-one to share it with’.
Entrepreneurship is a little like that. By choosing to ‘lead’; ‘grow’ or ‘build’ you’re effectively choosing to live a life alone.
And that gets lonely. I’m alone now as I write this.
