Great article! Rockstar employees, especially senior level executives in startups and small to midsize companies seems to get away with anything. In my days I’ve seen these folks blatantly violate company policies and harass people. Any escalation to the HR falls on deaf ears. As you rightly mentioned the HR is either colluding with the execs or simply assumes it to be a trivial issue. I was just wondering what difference would an independent ombudsman make if he/she report to another exec. I think the ombudsman should report to an independent organisation such as the labour department outside the organisation. This I presume would give a fair assessment of complaints.
