The TV is what the camera makes of it. It is how the camera captures it. It is how the camera sees it. Camera is thus the best companion. You must know how to use it, how to talk to it and how to use it to the benefit of your story.

Most importantly, you must treat as an integral part of your body. For if you don’t, it can go horribly wrong. Then you must learn to speak and understand the camera language.

If you don’t understand that, you don’t quite understand what you shoot with it. Remember, its just a machine. It needs to be directed in the right way. If you don’t direct it well, it won’t really take the blame for your bad shoot.

So speak its language. Understand what makes a good composition. Understand a good frame. Understand what good colours are. Use your understanding together with the camera for the benefit of your story.

It will run with you, shoot everything but you need to hit the record button at the right time. That is all your job is. It is like a big tangible eye you are carrying all around. Sometimes it get you good attention and other times it might scare people away from you.

Learn to talk your camera. This is something the camera is best at. It is by far the best listener in the world. It won’t blink. It will just look at you, straight and steady.

So go pick up a camera and make it your best friend. It is useful, not just for your career, but for presenting the best o what you have in you.
