The value of React is in functional thinking, a low surface area with a small API, and better practices with e.g. ES6 syntax, better tools etc.

Vue has none of this. A slightly harder setup process (you can use create-react-app or a ton of boilerplates) is a small price to pay. You need to use Babel, Webpack with Vue anyway in many cases.

Frankly I haven’t heard a single reason why Vue would be better than React. If you are worried about perf, use Inferno/Preact.
