Did anyone thought about the Carbon Footprint while mining any cryptocurrency?

We’ve checked some statistical facts here: https://digiconomist.net/bitcoin-energy-consumption and we are surprised by the results.

Is there anything to be done in order to reduce the CO2 Emissions related to the any cryptocurrency?
