What happened to the missing days in Netflix’s The Holiday Calendar

We must know what happened to the other figurines

This article is about the recent Netflix Christmas movie, The Holiday Calendar. If you want to hear more about the movie from me and my friend Ken you can listen to our podcast Two Degrees of Peri Gilpin.

Okay, The Holiday Calendar is about Abby (Kat Graham) who inherits an antique advent calendar from her late grandmother. Ty (Ethan Peck) and Josh (Quincy Brown) are both into Abby and we all have to wait till the haunted holiday calendar lets her get with Josh.

There are 25 numbered days on this advent calendar. So let’s start counting.

Day 1: Boots

A truly neutral way to start December. Graham finds toy boots in the calendar and then gets boots from her friend who is a boy, Josh.

Day 2: Christmas Tree

Let’s introduce our villain. The figurine Christmas Tree who introduces Abby to a man named Ty. His name may be Ty, but he has no idea how to tie a tree to a car.

Day 3: Nutcracker

Abby goes to her niece’s play and you wouldn’t believe who else is there. It’s Ty who is a single dad who also has a daughter in a sub-par nutcracker costume. You can’t help but wonder if his daughter’s costume would be better if Ty knew the first thing about tieing a knot.

Day 4: Candy Cane

Abby has her friend Josh (who presumably knows how to tie knots) stay over for the night to watch the magic Christmas calendar. The figurine is a candy cane. Abby is crushed by a candy cane while at work. She goes to the doctor to get her wrist looked at and Ty is the doctor. Pray you never need stitches from that man.

Day 5: Ice Skates

Abby gets figurine ice skates, but she doesn’t check in the morning because she is getting creeped out by this ghost gift concept. She goes to the local outdoor ice rink and takes black and white photos of ice skaters with Josh. That evening she goes ice skating with Ty, but we never see anyone’s feet or the ice so we can only presume that they just sashayed on regular ground.

Day 6: Horse/ Reindeer

Abby gets a reindeer figurine. She ponders out loud, “Reindeer? Horse?” She then takes a horse-drawn carriage ride with Ty, the man who could not get a reindeer on such short notice.

Day 9: Carolers

Abby’s next figurine is either a caroler or a man about to eat an entire book. When Abby and Ty are on a dinner date, carolers come by the window and sing at them. It appears that none of them eat their books.

Day 10- 13: ???

Okay, this small town must not be on the Gregorian calendar cause a week is missing.

Day 14: Wreath

Abby gets a wreath figurine from her magic calendar and she gets a wreath from Ty. I am truly worried that this man has too much holiday spirit and disposable income. She puts it with a whole pile of other gifts that he has given her. Someone ask this man about his credit card statements.

Which bow looks better? The one not done by Ty, right?

Day 15: Wise Men

Abby meets up with her grandfather before work and tries to explain why she doesn’t like Ty. He does not bring up that a man who can’t do a figure eight knot is not his type of man. For their daily date, Ty brings her to the homeless shelter and she meets two cool older dudes who tell her that Ty might not be “there for the right reasons.” When they get back to her place she explains the Holiday Calendar. Ty does not get it and compares it to astrology (which does go by the Gregorian calendar).

Day 16: Santa Hat

Possibly the worst explained holiday calendar figurine is the Santa Hat. It is either because Santa’s photo area was closed for the night or because the blowup polar bear on the right is wearing a Santa hat. No matter the Santa reference, Abby ends the night by getting fired by her boss.

Day 17: ???

Abby is really getting frustrated at the Holiday Calendar gods. She first throws out the calendar but then moves it to her car’s trunk instead.

Day 18: ??? or Netflix

We don’t see the figurine but she watches A Christmas Inheritance while moping. We can only assume that the figurine would have been the Netflix logo.

Fun fact: Both the Holiday Calendar and A Christmas Inheritance were filmed in the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, Canada.

Netflix is extremely proud of that four-star rating.

Day 19 – 24: ???

There are no figurines at this time but she continues to be alive. She takes some photos for the Mayor, texts Josh, gets her boss to apologize for firing her.

Day 25: Snow

The figurines are back and the last one is snow which feels more like a forecast. It snows and Josh casually buys her an art studio. Ty wishes his credit was that good.

Okay, so that accounts for 11 of the 25 days. Where are the rest?

These are the unaccounted for holiday calendar figurines

On the 16th day, the following additional figurines were on the table: candle, bells, stocking, snowman, sleigh, present, a star, and a holly sprig. Yes, that is a total of 17 figurines.

And on the 25th she also reminisced/ montaged how it was Josh the whole time and this angel figurine showed up. No day connected to it.

Sometimes you come to solve a mystery and just end up asking more questions. How popular is Josh’s travel blog? Did the Christmas Inheritance and the Holiday Calendar happen within the same timeline/ universe? Did this same thing happen to her grandmother? When is that Netflix movie coming out? Please comment with your conspiracy theory as to what happened the other 14 days.
