This message is for you if a hawk has flown or appeared into your life. Take a moment, catch your breath, and really look at the bigger picture. Look at life… your life as a whole, not a singular moment in time. The Universe is always working in your favor, leaving signs and signals along the way.

The Hawk is known as the Messenger of the Gods. The hawk teaches us to be observant of our surroundings. The Hawk is a signal for awareness. “Be Aware or Beware”, warned the Hawk. Soar higher and look at it from the perspective of your higher self. Take some time and observe the obvious and nuances of life. Your ability to observe is a part of the lesson life offers you, as a result you gain the power to overcome difficult and stressful situations with more ease. Let life be your classroom. Let this be a sign to shine light on some problematic signs in your life that may be preventing you from flying higher, soaring freely. A hawk may stop you in your tracks to bring your awareness to your forward movement and the path that it is leading you down. This may not be an alarming “warning” that you are heading in the wrong direction, consider it to be a friendly nudge to examine your approach and take a step back. If a hawk happens to cross your path, it represents bringing balance, self-discipline, and composure to your life. The Universe is telling you to slow down and allow the flow of life to catch up with where you may be heading. This can allow more patient and intuitive decision making, rather than impulsive emotional choices.

The hawk has also arrived to remind us of our natural clairvoyance, spirituality, and intelligence. These birds are extremely intelligent, much like crows and ravens, and they know how to execute a well-thought-out plan; representing the power of divine sight, seeing opportunities, and futures that most others cannot see. They incorporate tools into their strategies and move forward with a steadfast attitude. When the hawk appears, it reminds you of your own intelligence; your own ability to problem-solve with careful thought and strategy. Hawks symbolize freedom, and if you are in a constricting situation, the hawk arrives to remind you of your inherent right to be free. Lean into your independence, take that leap, and trust that you will know how to land on the other side.

Meaning and Symbolism associated with the Hawk:

  • Leadership
  • Vision
  • Freedom
  • Guidance
  • Power
  • Awareness
  • Creativity

Another reason hawks may show up in your life is when you are called to complete a goal or mission and need strength and encouragement to keep moving forward, corresponding to its representations: determination, focus, leadership, clarity, planning, intuitive decision making, and protection. Spiritually, hawks represent being in control of our own reality by utilizing a blend of intuitive wisdom and swift decision making. They represent the power of focus, determination, and confidence in the process of creation. Oftentimes when hawks are nearby we feel it, our spiritual awareness increases and we feel more in alignment with our body, mind, and spirit. The present of a hawk can be extremely spiritually activating for us who may have a strong connection to faith, angels, guides, and other spiritually beings of our own. And a majority of the time we may hear the sounds of a hawk, before we witness it. It’s important to pay attention to your emotions upon hearing the cry, screech, or sound of a hawk. This is particularly important regarding career aspirations and goals. A sudden revelation for what and who we want to be may be unveiled. The cry or screech of a hawk had the ability to activate our solar plexus chakra, which is related to self-expression, power, and manifestation ability. Feeling a renowned sense of inspiration to break away the chain which holds you back, and keeps you from living your truth, evolving into your higher self, it’s commonly upon hearing the screeching or cries of hawks. It is also said that meditating to the sounds of hawks can also activate the solar plexus, helping one to strengthen and build self worth and confidence.

Hawks can also show up in your life when you are learning the lessons of manifestation and universal connection. As you narrow your focus on what you want and align your actions, thoughts, and lifestyle to that goal, a vortex of manifestation surrounds you. Let this be your gateway to abundance and miracles. The patience and swiftly calculated actions of hawks are also representations of the process of aligned manifestation. Hawks teach us to take action when the time is right and to wait patiently through emotional ups and downs to prevent an irrational decision. This is a strength that is led with the heart’s energy, allowing the heart to align, all the other energy centers within the body. If you see a hawk, you may be highly imaginative or have great ideas that should be acted on. If nobody listens to your ideas, it is time to break away and start a new life where you can be heard. From this perspective, hawks can represent independence, freedom, and free-will, self-determination, and purpose. Although hawks are solitary creatures that reign independence, it’s important to note that seeing multiple hawks at once is not a coincidence. Seeing more than one hawk, in groups or multiple times within a short period of time, represents the alchemy of teamwork which corresponds to the process of manifestation and creation. Let this be a reminder for you to delegate tasks to others, there is some value in the perspective of others and this also offers you a better opportunity to stay focused. Community and support are also emphasized when seeing a hawk.

Historically, The importance of hawks and their history has had a meaning long before this search. Starting with the Ancient Egyptians who worshiped birds in general, as the protector of souls in the afterlife and as helpful guides for departed souls. Hawks were important symbols in ancient Egyptian tradition, because they represented the omnipresent watchful eye of the god Horus, having dominion over the sky. Hawks are also important and revealed birds to the Native American culture and tradition as well. Hawk feathers represent guardianship, protection, and determination in Native American tradition. The wind behind its wings and feathers, enables it to give and receive messages from the spirit realm, keeping a bond with the spirits that give guidance, healing, and warnings to Native Americans. It is said that hawk feathers fall from the sky are said to bring the gifts down to the earth. Some Native American cultures still use hawk feathers during healing ceremonies or occasions of smudging. The feather is said to cleanse a space from negativity, evil spirits, and stagnant energy while inviting and guiding life-force energy in its highest form. One of my favorite Biblical stories emphasizes the meaningful importance and messages behind Hawks: Job 39:26–30 (NIV). In this Biblical passage, God speaks to Job about the marvels of creation, including the characteristics and abilities of birds of prey like eagles and hawks. The passage emphasizes the wisdom and guidance of God in the natural world and serves as a reminder of the magnificence of His creation. It has also represented prophetic visions and messages from the Divine or angels. Having a hawk guide you is a great honor among many cultures. Hawks are widely regarded as impeccable hunters and symbols of freedom worldwide, typically viewing the hawk as a symbol of strength and protection.
