Soap Box Time….

My greatest thoughts or ambitions in life are because of or for my children. They are the most beautiful gift God has ever graced me with. With that being said as I look at the state of society today and try to ensure they are enlightened not in the ways of the world but the truths of spirit, faith of the heart and strength of intellect and knowledge, I try to discuss topics and issues with them that affect their young lives. A thought weighed heavily on me this week…. What am I reflecting to them on certain venues, So as I always do, i started to research, according to US census data 4.5 billion children are multi-racial just like My children are all multi-racial. With all the groups, politics, and pretty much society as a whole focused on one racial significance or another, what message are we sending them? Are they to learn their African heritage and look down upon their European ancestry or view their caucasion family as oppressors even in this day and time, are they to focus on their Island heritage and customs and consider themselves outcast because they would be considered heathen in other cultures and societies, Are they to focus on their European culture and be taught that they have privelage they didn’t earn. After thinking about this all week I came to the conclusion that as for me and mine they will continue to be taught that the totality of their heritage good bad or indifferent is who God intends them to be. And man makes Mistakes not God! So no part of them is incorrect they were made in his image. They will continue to be taught the truth in its entirety and that the color of the skin, the wealth or lack there of in their pockets, nor the country of birth should ever be allowed to define them as either an oppressor nor a victim. Neither privileged or underprivileged. That each struggle they face is either a blessing or a lesson and that they have the power to choose their own path. Most importantly they will learn that only through Unity among all and Love for one another will we heal the wounds of the past and keep history from repeating itself. Just saying….
