Trevor Doesn’t Represent Us

As Mission residents and advocates, we have lots of love for our communities. We are a diverse group of folks, from all over the world and three generations in. This is a special place in the heart of the city.

We are not blind to the issues we face, that is why we are looking for a supervisor who can work with our community to solve them. Trevor Chandler is not up to the job. He simply lacks the cultural competency needed and is advocating for policies that will not ensure our communities safety.

This is why we are asking members of the SF DCCC to vote to not abstain, but vote “No Endorsement for D-9.”

Here are the issues we currently have that need to be addressed:

• Our main corridor of Mission Street has seen a high rate of displaced community serving businesses with store fronts remaining vacant as property owners hold them for higher rents
• No capital investments in the BART plazas
• Crumbling sidewalks and streets
• No investment in our Latino-owned businesses
• Afterschool programs that are not properly funded
• Our street vendors were banned without a process or considering the impact
• Our unhoused population is growing

Most folks in the Mission don’t know about the DCCC, how it works, or how it creates influence. Yet, they will be receiving mailers with your endorsement, and some of them will be swayed by them. To have a governing body that isn’t accountable to our communities support a candidate who has continuously not shown to understand who Mission residents are, and what we need, is hurtful and offensive.

As the central committee for the Democratic Party in San Francisco, you should not endorse a former Republican endorse because their values and policy positions may not align with the core

principles of our party. Our candidate must embody the ideals and priorities that our members and supporters stand for, such as social justice, equality, and progressive reform. A former Republican might bring a history of opposing these values, which could undermine our credibility and cohesion. To build trust and ensure a unified vision, we need a candidate whose political journey reflects a consistent commitment to our principles. This will inspire confidence in our base and strengthen our campaign’s integrity and message.

D-9 has several candidates who are connected, engaged, and culturally competent. They understand the issues and have policies that will solve them in a way that doesn’t create further harm. That is why we are supporting the stance that is: any of the other candidates except Trevor Chandler. That is why we urge you to not abstain from this process, but to register “No Endorsement” for the District 9 race at the SF DCCC meeting.

Somos residentes y defensores de la misión, qué le tenemos mucho amor a nuestras comunidades. Somos un grupo diverso de personas, de todo el mundo y de tres generaciones en adelante. Este es un lugar especial en el corazón de la ciudad.

No estamos ciegos a los problemas que enfrentamos, es por eso que buscamos un supervisor que pueda trabajar con nuestra comunidad para resolverlos. Trevor Chandler no está a la altura del trabajo. Simplemente carece de la competencia cultural necesaria y aboga por políticas que no garantizarán la seguridad de nuestras comunidades.

Es por eso que pedimos a los miembros del SF DCCC que voten para no abstenerse, sino que voten “Sin respaldo para el D-9”.

Estos son los problemas que tenemos actualmente y que deben abordarse:

• Nuestro corredor principal de Mission street tiene un alto índice de vacantes, debido al alto costo de la renta
• No hay inversiones de capital en las plazas de BART
• Aceras y calles en ruinas
• No hay inversión en nuestros negocios de propiedad latina
• Programas extracurriculares que no están financiados adecuadamente
• Nuestros vendedores ambulantes fueron prohibidos sin un proceso ni considerar el impacto.
• Nuestra población sin vivienda está creciendo

La mayoría de la gente en la Misión no sabe sobre el DCCC, cómo funciona o cómo genera influencia. Sin embargo, recibirán correos con su respaldo y algunos de ellos se dejarán llevar por ellos. Tener un órgano de gobierno que no es responsable ante nuestras comunidades apoya a un candidato que continuamente no ha demostrado comprender quiénes son los residentes de la Misión y qué necesitamos, es hiriente y ofensivo.

Como comité central del Partido Demócrata en San Francisco, un ex republicano no debe ser respaldado porque sus valores y posiciones políticas pueden no alinearse con los principios fundamentales de nuestro partido. Nuestro candidato debe encarnar los ideales y prioridades que defienden nuestros miembros y partidarios, como la justicia social, la igualdad y la reforma progresista. Un ex republicano podría traer consigo un historial de oposición a estos valores, lo que podría socavar nuestra credibilidad y cohesión. Para generar confianza y garantizar una visión unificada, necesitamos un candidato cuyo recorrido político refleje un compromiso constante con nuestros principios. Esto inspirará confianza en nuestra base y fortalecerá la integridad y el mensaje de nuestra campaña.

D-9 tiene varios candidatos conectados, comprometidos y culturalmente competentes. Entienden los problemas y tienen políticas que los resolverán de manera que no generen más daños. Por eso apoyamos la postura que es: cualquiera de los otros candidatos excepto Trevor Chandler. Es por eso que le instamos a que no se abstenga de este proceso, sino que registre “Sin respaldo” para la contienda del Distrito 9 en la reunión de SF DCCC.
