mundane

I have been raised by a man who taught me all he could so far, to be someone of consequence in the future. This man taught me the values of power, discipline, punctuality and most importantly, the essence of winning. Granted, I have not been able to fulfill all his expectations he placed on me, and that makes my heart ache but by God, may he live long enough for me to see me prosper.

But that requires a lot of change, and a lot of improvement. I have seen the flaws I have which would either make me, or break me. I, myself know what bad habits to shed before it becomes inescapable. I am not someone to be dwelling on silver linings, as the ever optimist would be. I am a realist-pessimist by nature, and it’s time I started questioning my abilities but not wallowing in the decree of how bad I might find myself to be.

  1. Maybe it is good to be a little on the half-full glass side.
    - I need to be more optimistic and positive on things that might seem bleak. A winner is never going to charge forward unless he knows that there might be a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow shadowed by a tornado.
  2. Maybe it is wise to try to be a morning person.
    - I am a night owl by chance, but I have found that although I am most productive at night, sleeping habits lead me to wasting daylight and the chance to make something out of the hours God has given to us for work.
(How does anyone start being a morning person? ☹)
  3. Remember that if a full house doesn't win you the hand, a four of a kind can do the trick as well.
    - Do not keep anticipating in one direction only, be mindful of many other routes to success, or to prevent worse case scenarios.
  4. Be more driven and single minded
    - Work towards priorities and keep to the list. Have a bullseye in the brain always.

I may falter at times, and slip back into my old habits but I notice change and I’ll keep moving towards it. Some other people might be more accomplished than I am right now, and although I envy the degree of which they are already involved with the outside world, I will achieve much more later.
