Technology in Education System
Technology has always been at the forefront of human education. From the days of carving figures on rock walls till today, most the students are equipped with several technological devices at any given time. Technology always helped to push educational capabilities to new levels.
In the Colonial years, wooden paddles with printed lessons, called Horn-Books, were used to assist students in learning. 1. Virtual Reality — With VR, students can learn interactively in the virtual 3D world, without being physically present in the same classroom. Google has been at the forefront of introducing experiential learning in schools through VR technology.
2. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning — AI is used in schools to automate key activities such as grading subjects and providing feedback on areas that need improvement. It is also used to enhance personalized learning among students, especially those with special needs.
3. Cloud for Education — Educational resources could be accessed from any part of the world with cloud technology. Important resources such as written lessons, audio lessons, videos, and video assignments could be stored on a school’s cloud servers. Students could access these resources from the comfort of their homes and submit the assignments back to their instructors.
4. 3D Printing — 3D printers are creating a buzz in the education sector and students are loving them. Content that was previously taught via textbooks can now be expressed through 3D models. Through this printing technique, students could have a better understanding of something that was thought to be complex. In higher educational institutions, 3D printing is used by engineers and system designers to develop prototypes to be used in the development of final systems.
