More Bath Bombs & Tub Testing

I chose to make a second set of bath bombs with a different scent tonight because I bought a little plastic 2-piece ball ornament to use as a bath bomb mold. As you can see below, they look a lot better & neater… with the exception of the one I hand-formed because there wasn’t enough of the mixture to fill the ornament. (And go figure, this is the smallest one available.) Please excuse the cut marks… they’re resting on an old pizza pan (clean of course) that I quit using a while back.

I tub tested the original bath bombs… they fizzed up nicely enough but the scent seemed to disappear as soon as the bath bomb stopped fizzing. Not having a whole lot of bath bomb experience (I love the thought, but I’m never comfortable in the tub because I’m too darned tall), I’m not sure if this should be happening or not. I plan to tub test the new bath bombs and see if they’re any better. If not, I’ll have to up the amount of scent I use. That should be interesting, seeing as how I almost choked myself out while making tonight’s batch because the scent was so strong.

Of course, different fragrance oils have different strengths and the first batch had more dry ingredients than the second batch did, so the scent might be better in the second batch. Or the scent used in the first batch simply isn’t as strong as the second batch. Who knows?

In case you wonder, the names of the scents are Rise & Shine (Bath & Body Works® Forever Sunshine dupe/interpretation) and Storm Chaser (originally called Rainstorm but I like Storm Chaser better). Rise & Shine was the scent I used in the first batch, which I tub tested tonight. Tomorrow night I’ll tub test Storm Chaser and see what comes of that.

Ahhh the testing phase. So much fun.
