I’m kinda a podcast junkie, like all day almost everyday I’m on a podcast, this morning was no different. This morning on the codeswitch podcast there was a conversation that made me feel some kinda way, this issue is complex af and hard to face, and hard to have in a truthful meaningful way and it’s almost impossible to come to a consensus. The question: are black Americans appropriating African Culture when we where African clothing? first I’m like yea cuz we’re not African then I’m like nah cuz that’s my heritage and I have a right to be connected to it. It’s a tale of two countries and my feelings on the matter while split I feel is appropriate because as people of African decent we sometimes have to face the issue of living in a country that since they no longer have use for us doesn’t want us and a country that we are so disconnected from and don’t belong to. So where do we fit in, how do we fit in and are we wrong for living in both worlds.
