I have a friend in tech who does the same thing. When he was unemployed after a failed startup he started riding horses, he lived in Brooklyn, NY. Where horses are not commonly found since some time ago or if you have money to literally burn. Its now the only thing he loves, but he is also a CTO at 30 of a company of some note. How he got it was exactly a path you outlined. Me and him were having pizza talking about women and he blurts out an offer he wasn’t even considering, the job he has now. I am considerably proud of him and he holds his job in high regard but it wasn’t planned, any of his success. Its something I’ve envied until I tried learning anything about writing real code, which is why him and I had limited times we could split the world playing Risk against our other friends.
What I love about this mentality is its nearly devoid of apprehension and malice. I’m always about the next deal, the climb, albeit I’m not a cutthroat by any shape. This may be why I’m where I am right now. But you keep on rolling into the next thing til you stick around for long enough to hate it or have changed it. I’m sure you’re general state of being is loved and lovingly hated by your surrounding circle.
I’ve never had a goal
