Two days after getting back from holiday, I noticed that I was singing to myself in the street. The sun was shining, my laundry was in the machine, the kids were back at school and I was feeling happy. Just ordinary, normal happy. The weight was gone from my chest and I felt properly myself for the first time in months, maybe longer.
Clearly not all of the practical advantages above will apply next time we travel to, say, Spain or Poland. Obviously (and gloriously) not everything is the same everywhere we go. Local dishes, beers, music, TV game shows and architecture are still pleasingly idiosyncratic to the country or region we are visiting.
