Thank you for writing this — all of this moralization of biological processes has had me seething. I happen to have had a great c-section experience, and been able to breast-feed my daughter — but that’s just what happened and how it worked out (and because I had the resources to make those things happen); my experience carries neither moral nor instructive weight. They’re just things that happened in a certain way for me.

I’ve been so *mad* about the way that childbirth (and infant parenting) is gendered and moralized — thank you, again, for giving thoughtful, critical, and historical words to it.
